I'm sorry to hear that, and understand why you'd need some time to think. Given that you want to do some head-clearing, would you maybe be better off going somewhere where you can be alone and peaceful and have time to think? If so, why not Scotland? All that beautiful countryside and fresh air has a way of clearing the head and putting things into perspective a little.

Well most of Europe apart from sunny! GB is basking in a heatwave, I'd personally head off to Greece, some beautiful islands, you don't have to go to the mainland. Try Santorini its beautiful, places to stay aren't too expensive, if you don't take a package tour. Parts of the island are more touristy than others it depends whether you want to wind down a bit or get out on the town. Only about 4 hour flight as i recall, so not too far.

Sorry to hear that. Why not go to Whitby? I personally love it and always go there to clear my head; quaint, pretty, non-commercial and some lovely walks. Go on the internet for nice hotels or guest houses. Also, from Yorkshire, it will take less than two hours to get there and the drive over the North Yorks Moors is stunning.

You don't have to alot of money to get away. Even though you say money is no object, you don't want to make a decision on a huge trip when life is in a blurr. Go to the next city over and get a hotel room. Don't tell anyone where you are going. And take the time you need.

I'd take a short break abroad although likely to be quite high in price as its the kids summer hols... Either that or find yourself a spa hotel on line and have a bit of relaxing time.
