I want to rip music onto my computer so I can put them on my Mp3 using Windows Media, but whenever I try, there is a window mentioning I cannot do this because the CDs I use are 'write protected'.
I think there is an option for this, but I cannot find it!
The version of Windows Media I'm using is version 10.

Are you trying to rip the CD to the Hard Drive or back to a CD ? Make sure you've set a destination that is NOT the CD Drive, also error could be that they are "copy protected" rather than write protected, in which case it may be one of hte "sneaky" discs that are not "technically" Audio CDs but a hybrid with protection built into an extra track on them.

Alternatively, try using an alternative program, such as CDex, which I've been using for several years, with good CDDB lookup and fast rip speeds. It might solve the problem if it's onlt some discs MP doesn't like

I think that there may be some sort of protection on the CDs to stop you copying them. But try going to Tools>Options>Rip Music. There may be something useful there, although on Windows Media Player 11 there wasn't anything about write-protection.

I honestly have it in spite of the undeniable fact that it is too gradual for me so I no longer often use it. Cool colours inspite of the undeniable fact that. I honestly have my music on I-TUNES. that's plenty speedier. So a approaches I`ve been geared up to function all in spite of the undeniable fact that 3songs. I wager once you communicate that of copyright law or some subject. All 3 have been pink Floyd tunes. It kinda sucks once you communicate that they are MY cds. offered and paid for. as quickly because it was no longer able to return to a style what was on the disc and gave me 2 alternatives. for sure I chosen what I paid for. I honestly have NERO which appearently won't reject some subject. Now my easiest concern is homestead on my workstation. i'm finished and have easiest uploaded 25% of my cds. Winows Media participant is far TOO gradual!!

Presumably you are talking about files you have copied to your hard drive. You can't change the write protection on a cd; but, on your hard drive, go to windows explorer, right click on the file, and uncheck where it says "read only."
