When the day is long.. . and the night.. . the night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had e-nough. . . of this life. . well hang on
Don't let yourself go-o-o-o-o-o
Everybody cries. . . . . . an' everybody hurts.. . ...sometimes
Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone
If you feel like letting go-o-o-o.. . (hold on , hold on , hold on)
When you think you've had too much. . of this life. . . hang on
Cause everybody hurts. . . take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts. . . . (beat change) Don't Throw Your Hand
Ohhh no no no no no , . . don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone
Ahhh no no no . . . . . . you're not alone
If you're on your own in this life
The days and nights are long
When you think you've had too much. . . of this life. . to hang on
Well everybody hurts
sometimes. . everybody cries
And everybody hurts. . . some-times
So hold on-n-n-n-n
HOLD on-n-n
Hold-on, hold on , hold-on , ho-o-old onn-n , hold on ,

I went through a very dark period in my life where I gave up on God, Church, and myself. I tried to commit suicide many indirect ways, (like getting blind drunk, and starting a fight with someone six times bigger than me !) One Day the pain was so bad, and I didn't have any Booze, or Weed, so I took a rope, tied one end to a door nob, and slung it over the door, I got on a chair, and tied the other end around my neck,( it wasn't no slip knot ! ), I tied it very tight, and doubled it, and kicked the chair out from under my feet. When I woke up, I was laying on the floor shaking, and the rope was untied from my neck.
Today, I realize what I didn't want to admit then, The LORD didn't let me die, I could not of untied that Knot in my condition, and no on was in the trailer, who untied it ?
I know.

There are basically three types of suicidal people: 1) People who really want to die
2) People who gamble at death
3) People who are making a statement.
1) This catagory can rarely be stopped. Fortunately, they are the rarest type. They often show no accute symptoms but have suffered depression for a long time. In fact, just before they kill themselves they will often seem to be in good spirits perhaps for the first time in a long time. They usually use a difinitive way to do it that has little chance of failure.
2) Usually people under prolonged or acute stress. Circumstances cause them to act recklessly. Such people are best described as not caring if they live or die. Often die of drug overdoses (not by massive amounts but by mixtures of dugs and alcohol) or automobile accidents that do not involve other vehicles (driving alone at high speed on dangerous roads).
3) People who make very real attempts but do so in ways that allow others to possibly intervene. These include people who take deliberate overdoses before there spouse or roomate is about to come home or stand on top of building ledges for long periods of time so someone will see them and perhaps stop them.
All three are deadly. What they basically represent is people who see no way out of their situation. This is often true among young people who cannot yet reason that no matter how bad something seems, it is only temporary. Imagine a young child who receives a bad grade in school. He may find it almost unbearible to have to face his parents who will be disappointed and angry.
When he looks back at that incident years later he will see how little it actually would affect his life and how many other successes and how much joy there would be later. But at the time it was happening it seemed to be the end of the world.
The ability to look back as see the folly of taking permenant actions to solve temporay situations is important. If you are trying to help someone who is feeling hopeless, try to make them see that no matter how bad things are, they will get better. They always do.

I've had two friends who did--the first after I had lost touch after high school. You have to watch for the signs. When someone seems as though they are getting their affairs in order (repaying all debts, returning all borrowed items, etc) and other things like contacting all old friends (in order to say goodbye w/o actually saying it), you have to say something--anything. When my second friend did these things, nobody said anything to him, and now he's gone. I wish I knew then what I know now. I would encourage anyone contemplating this to call a suicide hotline.

Earnest, I truly hope you aren't referring to your own Personal Life!
Hang On
The past is gone
fading like the sunset
fills me up inside
dropping like a death threat
well i'm a lover
and then a fighter
no easy rider
just like my fallen brothers
watchin' over me
hip to the game
but the game brought the pain
starin' at the walls
i'm wondering how i'm gonna make it out
destiny to victory
you gotta run before you crawl
you must rise above it
listen up to our life
all your dreams are misguided
hang on
holding on to your pride
but it wont get you what you want
life will bring you up
life will put you down
life will build you up
and then burn you down
In the end you have to hang on!

I have had the misfortune of knowing two people who committed suicide.
If you aren't there at their most desperate moment, there is of course nothing you can say.

Yes, actually I have tried suicide. When I was a child, because of the sexual abuse of a priest. I still have the scars on my wrist. I still often feel suicidal, but I know that the feeling will pass so I don't act on it.
