Answer: Forget that blind equality ruse...
Everyone knows that lawyers have a problem raping her if she sees from which direction they are attacking her!
Some contend that its a timing consideration, but logic is, with such an unrelenting and vicious attack...direction is the most logical answer, as the assault is a constant, on-going event.

Lady Justice was not always blind folded. The ancient Greeks depicted Themis (Justicia in Roman), the Goddess of Justice with the scales and a sword. The scales signified the balance approach in that the verdict was purely on the "weight of the evidence" and the sword signified the power behind that impartiality. The addition of a blindfold happened sometime in the 16th century to stress that justice is not prejudiced.

In Hindu-Sastras, women and children are considered weaklings. Women are alloted respect as they take great pains such as in pregnancy and child-birth in order to keep the world going. Probably this is why women get the upper hand in legal matters over men in many cases.
Sastra does not give privileges to anyone without assigning some responsibilities. If Sastra has given some rights or extra facilities to women, it has also assigned some responsibilities such as behaving in certain ways so as to maintain modesty. Rights are vociferously being demanded. But how far responsibilities are adhered to cannot be said.

"Lady Justice" is a joke ! She`s the same as our lady justice here in Canada ..................... she may be blindfolded , but her nose isn`t covered , so she can still smell money !
Being blindfolded simply means she`s totally impartial ........... to where the money comes from !

I think that this is to signify that justice is blind and that all people, no matter gender, race, religious preference, etc are entitled to justice or cannot escape justice depending on the particular case.

Only her eyes are closed but ears and mouth are open indicating that she does not get biased by seeing as to who is being tried but will hear everyone's point of view and deliver(speak) judgement impartially.

Because justice is supposed to be "blind" as to who the person involved is.

it indicates that she doesnt see to whom the verdict is given to.. so no injustice is done ...just give the verdict based on the evidence.....but unfortunately it doesnt happen that way.
