Let's put it this way... a boyfriend has the purpose of turning into a husband; a husband has the purpose of living with you till death do you part... a boyfriend and a husband can be your best friends PLUS you get to share your life, economy, home, body and all else with him.
Note that certain things your would not do with your good friend... you will loose every time and you will make the same choice she made when the time comes.

The things people say. Sometimes I wonder if the purpose of the site is actually to look at all the answers and laugh at the bizarre, random, retarded things people are motivated to say. I like the "Get over it" and "What did you do to her?" remarks. haha, shows what people are made of.
But, you say; for a few hours. It's only a few hours. But, in the middle of doing what you'd planned? That's kind of strange. Maybe it's the circumstances? Maybe she has to donate him a kidney?
At least it's not real abondonment. :-P heheheh
I've always thought that the roots of pacts made between people like never letting men come between good friends and whatnot were always problematic and of the short-sighted variety of agreements which unwittingly, in time, take on a 'blood oath' type of strength in the brain and maybe only to one person, except they're impractical and weak in reality as they'll even be subconciously abused often enough to strain friendships down to nothing in some cases. Might even cause problems when the guy gets wind of it, imagine he's secretly saving up for a wedding ring, what if spending the rest of his life with his girl and even her friends is the most important goal in his world and he finds his girl and her friends have a rule... :-P Imagine the things he could wonder? Would it come between him & marriage? Could it possibly make some girl cranky enough to ruin the honeymoon? What if they don't like him and talk her out of it?!
Could really hurt his feelings.
I don't know if it's more the people I hang out with or what but there comes a point where I think you find that friends can be difficult. Like they stop understanding english, they'll not be changing their habbits or thinking properly. It may be that they'd go out on a limb for you or really be there for you when in need but sometimes, some people are invariably thinking about and motivated by their own needs & wants *constantly* so we're lucky when people don't just write their friends off entirely, and vice versa.
People suck. :-)

I know it hurts but those kind of promises should never be made because they seldom are kept. Not because she doesn't love you but because she's getting to know him and feels torn. A different part of her heart is now going into action. She loves you in a different way than she does him obviously. I think a lot of us have gone through the same thing when our closest friend gets a boy/girl friend. Our friends feels pulled and they make a grandiose promise like that to make us feel like we still matter to them. They end up hurting us more because we try and hold them to that promise with guilt via the sour puss or the puppy dog eyes. Truth is we may have lost a big part of them as long as they are with that steady. We either deal with it and enjoy the time we do get with our friend or stay home and eat dirt. I now it sucks when you are going through it but when you take it apart you know the best thing to do is to be a real friend and make the most of the time you do have together.

If she promised and is going against her promise then she is not a very good friend.
And by the way, don't look at it as You vs. 'that darned dude'. That is the wrong view. It is You vs. Your Friend's Priorities.

You should feel like you've been cheated, and pull her aside and talk to her. Good friends are supposed to be there for each other, because, no offense, most of the time it's just another guy, and he'll be out of your lives before you know it. Talk to her.

Ok..well if she is your good friend then obviously you can let this one slide. I never have taken a guy over my friends..but maybe she wasn't thinking straight and forgot or something..you should let her know that you are hurt but I wouldn't let it turn into a huge fight..then he wins..lol...let this one go but next time tell her no compromises..take care

You have a right to be upset, since you two had prior plans. Other than that I guess you should try to get used to him being around and part of her life
