AM radio is where to find 50's rock today.

After some thought, i figure the reason why 50's music is on AM is because it was to begin with. I was looking at this from the wrong perspective. To broadcast classic rock on FM would take away just as much as broadcasting 80's-90's music would on AM.

Well, when Nirvana came around they were all banished. However, it seems VH1 and an overall feeling of nostalgia have paroled some of them. The real question is why do we still have lousy sounding AM radio in the supposed digital era.

I play video music for people. Many of them still like the 80's music.

This is even people who are in their 20's.

The idea that 80's music being banished to AM radio will never happen simply because to many people still like classic rock.

Assuming of course that radio stays relevant with the satellite providers out there... yes, Hair Metal will fade out from the airwaves. It continues to enjoy popularity right now because the kids that bought the music are now in their late 30's to mid 40's... now they have the bucks to keep those bands afloat. Brett Michael's on VH1... just sad. Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam killed off and music label interest in Hair Bands... now we can like them both...

One can hope.

What's played on the radio is based on who advertisers think is listening and has money to spend. Right now they think their most profitable market is forty somethings whose musical tastes ossified in the late eighties. They's why I'm thankful for college radio, NPR, and my Mp3s.

Probably not, it makes such good party music, almost everyone can get into it, from Metal Heads to Rap Fanatics. Even if the music is not lyrically or technically sound, and even if it's not quite in style anymore, it'll always be party music.

Where I am, I rarely, if ever hear 80s hair bands on the radio. (thankfully)

I hope so. I'm tired of them being played on the local alt. rock stations.

I hope not. My husband and I listened to a lot of that on our honeymoon.
