Lawnmower Man was the worst adaptation from story to screen that I know of. Not that the movie was bad, but the story had nothing to do with computers.
I thought The Stand was done very well.

I really liked The Stand a tv-mini-series (3 parts) - I thought it was a really great adaptation of the book.
As for a worst, I don't have one because I don't read/watch his stuff (I'm a bit chicken!).

"Lawnmower Man" was absolutely the worst. "Maximum Overdrive" was a close second, but at least it was high on the unintentional comedy scale.
The best was "It", with the "Green Mile" a close second

Fav: Misery
Worst: Lawnmower Man: I'm ashamed to say I watched it. Twice even.

i've seen shining (jack nicholson) it (they are making a 3-4 hour remake) misery (haven't seen all of it) and carrie (original)
I would have to say shining is best and there is no worst
They all scare the living sh*t out of me, i'm a little nuts now from watching them all.
