The chav has replaced the English cockney as the lynchpin of London life.

The cool thing about the chav is that he is a multicultural character whereas the cockney was and is largely a limited and specific type.

And he is definitely and specifically Anglaise. Very London. A great export. A tremendous ikon. Or a vulglarian.

Chavs- love `em or loathe `em. What`s your view?

Ok erm... Both and Both I know alot of chavs some I litrally feel embarresed to be around and some are the nicest guys ive ever met.

I guess it just depends on their personality, I know chavs who would happily help an old lady with her bags, and I know chavs who are most likely gonna run off with those bags.

My mum and her friend drove around crawly a few weeks ago (abit of a chav place) and were forced to ask directions to a couple of hooded chavs on a street corner, they ended up giving the guys a lift to their next destination and sung their praises when they got home, so its hard for me to actually say if i loathe 'em or love 'em.

Id say 50-50

LOATH EM!!

they think that being constantly drunk is cool, the girl chavs think that wearing 5 inches of make up is cool, the boys think that driving fast cars around small villages is cool. They dont realise the burberry jumpsuits they wear are tacky, the girls don't realise they look like tarts and the boys dont realise they look like $#@!%s

It's a fun way to pass an hour or two playing "Spot the Chav" at your local shopping precinct on a Saturday morning.

LOATHE them!!
Ugh, bad manners, bad speech and grammar, bad attitude, bad fashion sense, delinquents who have sex way too early, are parents by 20, think that smoking cannabis is 'harmless'. For examples on your average chav, see Jeremy Kyle.

They are universally loathed. They are like Borat's people, but without the charm or the education.

I think they are interesting but I am not English. I find them to be very distinctive and edgy but I know that most people in the UK don't like them. If I had to live next door to them, I might not like them either.
