Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who lived and died during the Holocaust. The Frank family hid from the Nazis for two years in a Annex at the back of a warehouse. During that time, Anne kept a diary which she wrote about the horrors of war and the problems of being a teenager.
She gave us an opportunity to see how racial discrimination hurts people first hand and how it can harm for years after.

Anne Frank was born in Germany in 1929. In order to escape Nazi persecution the family fled to Amsterdam. There the family hid in a secret annex in a building that held her father's business. While in hiding Anne kept a diary. They hid there from 1942-1944. The family was betrayed to the Germans in 1944. Anne dies at the age of 15 from typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Her diary was found and turned over to her father. It is said he was the only surviving family member. I think her diary is an important book.

This book is a most read. The book is a study of the human spirit and the strength of a girl that was trying to get through her adolescent years living with the fear of being found and death. Think there is a movie based the diary.

Yes, it's a very well known story. Tragic and very true. I visited Anne Franks home in Amsterdam last year, they took us on a tour of it and we were able to see photos of her family and friends, as well as her trek through the concentration camps.

It is a very important book.
I remember a routine by Whoopie Goldberg in which she compares her day to day problems with those of Anne Frank. Her closing line was something like, "It was then I realized the true meaning of 'trivial pursuit.'"

Yes, it's the diary of a young Jewish girl in hiding from the Nazis during WWII. It's a good historical record of the horrors of that era and regime.
I think it's important as a message of hope. Anne believes in the goodness of people despite the horrid conditions of her life in hiding and her ultimate death.
