I would prefer to be working in an abattoir slaughtering child-murderers, paedophiles and terrorists. But - if you fancy a steak? I don't think anyone should eat meat until they can kill the animal it came from.

The transportation of animals to an abbatoir is a strictly controlled regime. It is done with a licensed transporter and the animals are tranquilized before loading in order to reduce their stress levels. It is almost always the rule to give the animals an ajustment time before slaughter, which is carried out with an humane stun gun before actual death occurs. If you are and or have been a vegetarian, then you must be informed about the new rules and regulations regarding the slaughtering procedures at abbatoirs. As a carnivore I have made myself aware of the procedures carried out before, during and after slaughter in order to feel settled about what I am eating. In the rearing of the animal, I feel that this is also of paramount importance. Good luck with your decision.

OMG I hope I never have to. I once worked in a kennels where the owner would go down to the slaughter house and come back with a load of abattoir offal including cows stomachs full of grass. We had to open up the stomach and scoop all the grass out before washing, boiling and mincing everything. Can't say I lasted very long at that job. And we could never get away from the smell. Uhhhhgggg!

Yes I could and so could most people if they had to. It is not a pleasant job, but as with other horrid jobs, like clearing sewer blockages, doing abortions, or being a prison warder someone has to do it and if the pay is right it becomes much more palatable.

Definitely not, i do not like seeing anything or anyone suffering, i would not be able to eat a chicken seeing it being slaughtered. Once when i was a kid i stayed with strangers for a couple of days [ well they were not strangers to my parents ] the man chopped the chicken's off and he let it run around headless. I was terrified and vomitted and then they still wanted me to eat it for supper, no way.

not an answer to your question,
but I feel the same way after seeing pics and videos and reports of what really happens to animals. Trying to become a vegetarian, or at least a piscean.
