what is the average amount of rent you pay on a room weekly? does it vary between north and south of the UK?

depends on the property i guess - in Uni accomodation i was paying about £75 per week. Now for a house which is divided into rooms will depend -

It varies - anything from £35 to £100 a week. Check your local newspapers, and do a google search for letting agents and rooms to let on the internet, you will get a better idea of what you're getting for your money.

If you check out where houses are cheap to buy, then that is where you are likely to get cheaper rents.
House prices in and around London are silly money, so renting has to be expensive so that the houseowner isn't out of pocket.

is there someone you know who you could rent a room from? the bonds are extortionate from letting agencies
