Today is our 18th wedding anniversary! For those of you who DO understand "happily married", I want to know what brings the two of you happiness, and if the years are just flying by for you as quickly as we have found they are! I couldn't imagine my life with any other man, and we have had a wonderful life so far! Of course, we've experienced the ups and downs which every marriage has, but our love has just grown stronger and deeper, and there's still plenty of fun, laughter, and lust!
Would appreciate happy, positive answers!

Hi, congrats! Me and my husband have been married for almost 22 years. We got married when I was 20 and he was 24. I can't imagine life without him. The big thing is that we both have a sense of humor. For quite a few years, I had gained quite a bit of weight, yet love must be blind. Whenever I asked him if I was as big as someone that walked by or something like that, he would always looked shocked and say no way, not even close. Yet I know I was. Also for the first few years, I was the worst housekeeper, but he never said a word. To this day, every morning when I wake up, there's a travel mug full of coffee on my nightstand. He has gotten me to be a better person, more considerate, patient, helpful etc. We get along better now than we ever did. Like you say everybody has to go through tough times, but we're a team and best friends. The time has just flown by, yet it's hard to remember life without him. Wishing you and your husband many more happy years together. In this day and age, it really is nice to hear of other couples staying together and loving it! God bless!

Happy Anniversary!! It's a breath of fresh air to hear of a couple in a happy marriage.

My grandma and grandpa celebrate their 55th wedding anniverary on August 21. :-)

My husband and I celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary on September 14 and the years have just flown by. I can't imagine myself with anyone else. He's my best friend and we have a beautiful little girl who turns 2 on September 8.

Congrats again!

37 yrs. for us this August.

Marriage really isn't rocket science; all it takes is some emotional maturity, and a measure of compromise, sympathy and forgiveness.

We're all human beings, and we mess up on occasion. We need to sort the small things from the large things, work them out without a lot of drama and trauma, and then move forward, remembering why we got together in the first place.

I agree totally with you,"plenty of fun, laughter, and lust!"

Good luck to you, but I don't think luck has anything to do with it. And I mean that in a very complimentary sense.

No, and I know we won't make it to 18.
It's wonderful that you have. But as one of the respondents said, he's been happily married for 2 decades and this is his second time around.
I wish so many on this site would not be so judgmental of those whose marriage are not blissful. It's not always a matter of people not "trying" or "working hard enough" Sometimes we just marry the wrong person.
I'm happy you married the right one!

Congratulations to you both. I know a couple who's been married for 60+ years. So keep working on your marriage, you still have many more years to go.

I congratulate you and your husband for giving it a go, despite the hills and valleys.

My second go-round is lasting already 21 years.

From it's humble beginnings, each day is a notch further toward building something that lasts.

It's based on mutual respect and trust, knowing the going is difficult.

And, like yourselves, it's engine is fun, laughter, and sometimes...tears.
