Yes, because some poor people resent rich people and some rich people look down on poor people. It is not so much the class system but the attitude people have about classes which causes the stigma. Take races/ethnicities, for example: black, hispanic, etc were merely terms to categorize the different types of people but some idiots turned it into a big deal it was not supposed to be.
Now people have turned the class system, used to categorize people based on wealth, into something it wasn't supposed to be. It is a cycle of resentment. I noticed a pattern here: stigma arrizes whenever people get categorized. Maybe if we just accepted everyone as they are we wouldn't have this problem.
