After my mom's passing I had a bout of depression. I went to my family dr. and was on antidepressants for about a year and tapered off and have been fine since. That was 7 years ago, since my father passed also. No depression.

Please talk to your family dr. and get some blood work done also, but #1 tell him you symptoms, this is very important.

You must take care of yourself, and be the best person you can be.

good luck to you

There is a possibility. But you can solve it yourself. Our mind is like a store. There it stores our daily activities in short term and long term memory.

It is a kind of a Library. Hypnotist usually use those memory and clear. But if you start thinking good. Change yourself if you want. There is a way without going to Psychiatrist.

But if you like to go I will say that is the best and fastest way instead asking here and by getting reply from non professionals you will get more depressed.

I think that you should see a counselor if you have to ask the question. I don't think that sadness and depression are the same thing, in shrink terms. You should go to help you work out your feelings about your mom and about growing up without her.

My father died too and I have depression. Just to make sure, talk to a psychiatrist.

Everyone dies. And everyone deals with the loss of loved ones. It dosen't sound like you were sad in your childhood for an abnormally long period of time. You should be fine.
