Be direct and don't use a lot of emotions or plea with him.Look him straight in the eyes and tell him what you want.
Sometimes is better to have a trained third party involved for major disagreements so can listen to both sides and interfere by pointing out some issues with a fresh look.
If it is a chronic issue, is becomes way of life and is very hard to break the pattern unless both partners are willing to do so.
If you go to therapy alone will help you learn of other ways to deal with your interactions with others and develop some self esteem.
Good luck

With your husband you may want to sit down and write your thoughts out in a letter and give it to him to read. That way he can't interrupt you and has to read all of it before he can comment or contradict what you say.

Don't worry what you think others think of you. Be true to your self. Because if you are worried about what their opinion is of you, you will have a harder time saying what you want to.

Sometimes it is better to sit back and really listen. Communication is very important in a marriage but a lot of people forget to listen..
