I know NOTHING about ipods or MP3's, but I do know this stuff is expensive ? I need to watch very carefully what I spend but I want to buy what I need and if I make a "copy" to send to my granddaughter, what will she need to play it on and how will I record it ? I think a good site to look at might help my dinosaur brain huh ? OK you youngies but goodies , help !!!!!!!!!!!!11

OK-I'm 47 and am just using my first ipod. Its a shuffle-which is great but it "shuffles" the music so I don't have a choice. I would get an ipod nano-when this one kicks I will. itunes-Apples sight to buy and upload music will "sync" your player and you can buy songs at 99 cents with an account or merely upload from your own CDs into your computer and use it that way. You can't put itunes on other things unless you put the songs on a CD and then upload (seems to trick it on writ protection). They do have an easy deal. I also used Music Match-another sight and liked it and also Yahoo music-that seems set up well. Go to Yahoo tech and read reviews on players but rifght now-for buying gift cards-sending music-you can upload your itunes to their ipod etc-I think Apple has it. I hate complications and too much junk if that helps and my little player is the best when doing my 3 mile in the mornings!

You can get any mp3 player. It does not have to be a IPOD, but the nano is great and the itunes and everything syncs very easy.
