your not the first to ask lol. i use it all the time and even when i tell people what it stands for they don't understand why i use it lol.
lol - laugh out loud. its used to show that the person saying it finds whatever funny lol. or just to express bemusement/ happiness/joy/etc. lol. i just use it because im a very smiley person lol and smile at everything lol and thats how i can show people i find something funny or am smiling on line. lol. no one says it out loud though lol because it would sound funny lol but online lol means laugh out loud and is used whenever lol. i repeat myself too much lol.
omg - oh my gosh/god which is pretty obvious lol. just said whenever taken by suprise or what not. lol.
just an extra one i use all the time people don't understand lol.
soz - which is short for sorry. lol.
