Eastenders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street... I mean the plots are really unrelaistic, it's never really a normal atmosphere, there's always some murder, a rape, a madman, an abandoned baby, SOMEWHERE going on. And the acting is really, i mean really bad.

I find it interesting that people who do not enjoy Soaps come to the Soap Opera category. WHy? I love Soaps.

I watch Passions...That's the only soap I like...But yea, the acting in soaps is horrible, the plots are crazy and they normally drag on a story for waaaay too long..But with all of Passions defects I still watch..I luv the show, bad acting and all..

EDIT..

o, and like a lot of other people said: Soap operas aren't meant to be 'realistic'..what makes them so interesting is the crazy and unrealistic plots and the characters that we slowly come to love or hate..Where else can we see a group of such crazy people with drama following them everywhere they go?? Soaps are fun and interesting..if u don't like it don't watch and stop coming to this section of yahoo..It's amazing how many soap haters visit the yahoo soaps section...

And really u seem to watch an awful lot of soaps for someone who supposedly hates them...But w/e everyone has their own opinion...

I dont like soaps either. Corrie gets on my nerves . Its been on since gods knows when. Eastenders...same.

I have tend to noticed Corrie is more of a Northern soap & Eastenders is more of a Southern soap.

I just cannot stand the way they scream at each other. If thats the case Ill watch that kind of crap on Jerry Springer

well, the only soap i liked was coronation street. =]
but otherwise i HATE Soaps! They do have very unrealistic plots and they make no sense. there are a lot of people who like soaps just for the drama cuz that is all it is. some people hate them too. i cant stand general hospital =P
so everyone has their own opinion.

The only soap I actually watch is 'Coronation Street', I can't be doing with any of the others, they're just boring to me.....though I did (and still do) enjoy the 'supersoaps' of the 80's such as 'Dallas','Dynasty', and 'Flaming Road'.

I would like to see all channels scrap all soaps. Eastenders probably has some of the worst actors working on t.v. at the moment. Mondays is the worst day in my house, its bloody soaps on from half six all the way through til nine.

Very interesting that you have such a negative opinion of shows that you clearly watch ALL THE TIME.

Why are you spending your time rallying opinions that the shows are bad? Here's a thought... stop watching them. Your problem will be solved and you will no longer be so bothered by lame plots and bad acting.

Think, woman, THINK!

Eastenders - cool sometimes...

Corrie - cool sometimes...

Neighbours - BLOODY GREAT (ok...I'm a red-blodded bloke, but theres so MANY FIT birds on there its hard not to like it) - the storylines are good, but thinking about it rationally...the characters in there live lives, people who WATCH soaps are watching them because they don't have enough going on in their own lives...

My husband hates soaps. He agrees with you about the acting and story lines. He says they are very predictable.

No at all, I'm sure there are loads of people who never watch them. Though don't you think it is very odd that so many are transfixed by them? I think its to do with something lacking in society...there is much less social interaction nowadays & people get this via TV dramas. There is so much more to life than getting overly attached to a cheap drama on TV. get involved with people round about you, make a differance thats what i say.
As for TV there are alot of good programmes (I really enjoy educational ones especially natural history ones) but it annoys me just how much crap there is on - and as for "reality TV shows...Ahrrrr! I hate them.
