Petrol will cost about $1.30 a litre, more in some places, less in others. It is a little over 3000km. At 10 litres per 100km you will need 300 litres of fuel which will cost you $390. If your car uses less than 10litres per 100km it will cost less; if it uses more it will cost more.

it would be safe to budget on $500 and you will most likely get change. some places along the track charge $1.40+ a litre. please don't speed ,make sure you have good tyres, do not drive during the witching hours of dusk and dawn, the roos are all hopping across the road from 5pm till 8am so be alert, you don't want to hit a roo in the middle of no where. if you survived the towing costs would kill you. apart from all that doom and gloom, have a good trip !!
