I just changed my Eldorado's radiator and the drain is located on the left hand side down low 1/4 twist on the thumb wing and it starts draining only the radiator there will be about a gallon left in the block. I was in a hurry and the previous DEXCOOL looked good so I left it in there. If your cooling system is contaminated you can garden hose the tank run water faster that it is running out for 30 minutes engine running till water runs clear and add straight one gallon of Dexcool do not use anything else Northstar engines will not like anamal safe antifreeze or green stuff.

I really like John Paul's answer to your question. If you feel industrious remove or clean in place the coolant recovery catch can, scrub it out with a round household brush with whisk and hot water.

In any engine when clear water has been flushed out of the lower hose or radiator a mystery amount of clear water is still trapped in the block. *For clearance reasons and manufactures laziness there are no threaded drain fittings in cylinder blocks any more. For that reason consult your handbook specification for coolant capacity before adding the antifreeze. Depending on the cooling system capacity always add 50-60% of the total specified volume using 100% Dexcool antifreeze first. Do not use the 50/50 pre-mix Dexcool.
You'll find that you most likely not be able to pour in the total capacity needed. Add the remainder (antifreeze first) to the coolant recovery bottle. After the motor has heat cycled 2-3 times the level of coolant in the bottle will have dissapeared or dropped considerably. If the all the specified amount antifreeze has been added continue filling the recovery bottle with distilled water till it stablizes in the hot fill line after driving. Make additions of distilled water to the coolant recovery bottle from now on.
