I just had the engine beefed up a bit more and putting the distributor in is a *****. As far as I know its at TDC. I routed the wires 18436572. i may have started at the wrong spot or i dont know. I tried to start it last night and it cranked for about 30 seconds and then the loudest bang i ever heard from a car. what did i do wrong? ho do i fix it? I will pay any mechanic to come by and do it right!!!

you need to know that #1 is at or near tdc on comp. stroke then take cap off dist and see where rotor is pointing and start #1 wire from there

Firing order is correct.
The rotor turns clockwise

► Remove #1 spark plug.
► Remove distributor cap
► Place your finger in the spark plug hole.
► Bump engine over until compression is felt – observe the direction the rotor is turning
►Align timing mark @ TDC
►#1 plug wire is on the front left [driver's side] of the cap.
► If rotor is not pointing there, remove the distributor & set in so it will align with lead.
► Bump engine over until compression is felt in #1 Cyl
► Again turn to TDC
► Check position of rotor
► Install wires on the cap starting at #1
► Check that the plug wires are installed on the cap in the right order.
► Install the cap

Sounds like your timing is off.
My brother use to crank the engine till he could feel the #1 cylinder at the top and then do it, but I can't remember what he did.
I'd find a mechanic near you and ask if he could stoop by after work or something.

some cams swap the #4 and 7 firing around for a smoother torque curve... double-check the cam specs :)

Sounds like your timing is 180 degrees off. try again.
