It sounds to me that it might be not only a problem with your broadband but with your computer as well. Your computer might be full of spyware, and the spyware is causing it to be horrendously slow. Trust me, I know about it. If you still believe it to be the broadband, reset your modem and see what happens next.

You have given us no details of your system.

If you have wireless you may have hackers hogging things. If you have other LAN users they may be hogging things. Your pc itself may be bogged down with spyware, viruses, etc. Your router may need to be cleared. There are way too many variables to provide a simple cure.

Update your antivirus and run a full system scan and clean up whatever messes it finds.

Go to your router maker's web site and see if it has a version of firmware newer than you have on your router. If so download it and put it on your router per router maker's request. Be sure to follow all firmware install instructions and note the router configuration before firmware is loaded because some firmware upgrades erase the configuration. In some cases you can download the config from the router, store it on the pc, upgrade the firmware, and then reload config - check carefully with your router maker.

Turn off the wireless and disconnect all but one wired in user. Measure your internet speed using a speed test (e.g. go to www.pcpitstop.com and use theirs OR any other you know). Record up and down speed. If you are not near the ISP specified values, shut down modem and router and pc. After all is off for at least 0.5 minutes, turn on modem. At least 1.0 minutes later turn on modem. At least 1.0 minute after that turn on pc. Measure speed again. If it is still very slow compared to your ISP specifications contact your ISP to see if there is a problem there. If the ISP shows all is ok, run the test again using a different pc on the LAN using a wired connection as this may rule out a pc problem.

If all is OK, add a second wired pc, until all wired pcs are running. If all is ok, then activate wireless BUT be sure to upgrade security to include MAC address validation and change the WPA preshare key (assuming you have WPA encryption ability).

Continue with this logical step wise problem solving mode unitil you find the problem and fix it.
