and I noticed that my answer to the question "should the McCann's be prosecuted for leaving the children unattended" has reveived two thumbs downs.

My answer was "yes, its child neglect" which leaving kiddies unattended whilst the parents go out drinking, most obviously is!

What I want to know is this, was I given the thumbs down because I dared to say (what thousands of others are also saying)? or is it because the people giving the thumbs down, think its ok to leave vulnerable babies alone, and go out drinking?

i noticed the thumbs down too , very odd that people are so against madeline she really has little support from the media . hateful people think its ok to leave small children alone
anybody who defends leaving small children alone should be ashamed.
so come on then people who give the thumbs down , explain why it is ok to leave small children alone , there is a hate campagn against madeline , people dont want the truth to come out , they have put two selfish arrogant people before an innocent child

I don't think that you can get thumbs down for a question only *positive* feedback by the way of stars and you have plenty here.
It should be the same for answers - thumbs up only if people like it and none of these thumbs down - I have written to Yahoo about it and hope others might.

I would give you a definate thumbs up. It is never ok to leave children alone. Anyone who says otherwise needs a boot up the backside. I don't know about a thumbs down id like to give to give the McCanns a bunch of fives right on the nose for going around the world saying that in the UK we all carry on like they do. We don't. Keep your posts going your good at them and they are interesting.

I only give thumbs down for an answer that blatently doesnt answer the question or if the answer is in my opinion definately factually incorrect.

I would never give a thumbs down to someone just because they differed in opinion.

Lots of people do though. It's like the people that only give the 10 points for best answer to the people who agree with their opinion.

Edit - Babysham - ahhh your old avatar is back!!!

Hi Miss Essex

It is called a "One Sided Debate"

If you post a comment about this subject which is opposed by members who cannot reply with a valid argument, then the only answer they can give is a thumbs down or violation.

In their hearts they know that your side of the argument is irrefutable and know that any answer they might give would be simply repeating their favourite speech "Have you no thought for the child". Even when the statement made relates to the cause of the suffering of that child.

You should view every thumbs down as a sign of victory.
It means that those opposing your views are speachless and have no valid answer to your statement.

I don't think you got the thumbs down because you dared to speak. I think it is because many people (myself included) are tired of seeing the slating the McCanns are getting. While I am appalled at what they did I don't feel slating them is constructive in finding Madeline.
None of us know what really happened the night Madeline disappeared nor do we know the facts about their "extended holiday" or the money they have received.
My opinion is that they should be left alone to find their daughter. When she has been found or it is accepted that she may never be found then the McCanns should be brought home and made accountable for their actions that night. They should not be allowed to profit by selling their story.
We all have differing opinions, but whatever we think the McCanns will spend the rest of their lives with the knowledge that they are responsible for Madelines fate.

Yes - have noticed that too when giving some of my answers though haven't checked that particular one. Probably trolls, who just give thumbs down for the sake of it. I don't really think that people would give you thumbs down because they think it's OK to leave wee kiddies on their own. If that's the case, then they are seriously sick in the nut. A star for you.

the ones that give you thumbs down, are the ones answering their own questions, and hope to get some advantage in doing so.

Someone answered a question with 'all I hope is that Madeleine is found safe and well' and people thumb downed that!

People thumb down anything the disagree with or if your a pro McCann pretty much anything that doesn't kiss their butts.

i know! i'm trying to stay objective & unbiased, plus never pat ppls backs for rather cheap photoshop 'authentic' images - therefore i get thumbs down from both anti & pro camp! don't give up! ;) (however, i never leave the kiddies i babysit to pop out for a shandy or two - that would constitute neglect wouldn't it, and i would be sacked big time)

I have just answered a question, and I said if I left my daughter alone at such a young age to go to my local pub. I would deserve to be reported and called a bad mum.

I received 2 thumbs down for it. My mind boggles, but some people will thumb your answer down for any reason.
