an iPod is an mp3 player tt comes in 3 sizes. iPod, iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle. de iPod allows importing of mp4s and mp3s and has a memory storage of up to 80GB, that's 80GIGABYTES, 20,000 songs. an iPod Nano allows only mp3 songs and has a memory storage of up to 8GB, 2000 songs. Both the iPod and the iPod nano can support games, songs, and photos. de iPod shuffle allows also only mp3 songs has a storage of 1GB and stores up to 240songs. deir battery lives are long, 12hrs for shuffle and 24hrs for the nano and iPod.

however, a normal mp3 player allows only data storage and mp3 playing. nothing else. it also usually stores 128mb, 256mb or 512mb worth of data. not as much as the iPod.

also, most mp3 players are bulkier than de iPod and has a smaller screen, most probably black and white or black and green/blue. [yes, de iPod allows bright and vibrant colours]

They are actually the same thing.
An Ipod is an MP3 player.
People refer to other MP3 Players simply as MP3 players because the Ipod is a unique name that was given to a particular MP3 player.
