Well, i've learned to look at everything in life from this perspective.

Hope for the best, expect the worst.

The hope keeps you going, and the expectation keeps you from being discouraged.

You used the word BETTER. So, you are a reasonable person. Either way you will benefit from both, looking on what situation you are in. Eg. If you buy a lottery, its better to have zero expectation. But if you want something good in return of a good work, then high expectation will drive you to do better than the others.

If you have high expectations and the thing which you are expecting doesn't happen, you will be very much disappointed. Finally you wii make up your mind to have no expectations ...........but a life without expectations is rather dull.So moderate expectations would be more beneficial.

I think it depends on the situation as to which is better. I mean, it's good to have high expectations of yourself. It gives you goals and makes you work hard towards them. It's not, however, always good to have unrealistic expectations for people you love because alot of times they will fall below that and then you'll be hurt or disappointed. It just depends on the scenario.

have reasonable expectations.

high expectations can make you and your partner miserable if the expectations are not met

with zero expectations you might get walked all over in the relationship.

Zero expectations with high hopes. Don't set yourself up for disappointment, but then again, don't assume you won't get anything either. Keep your hopes up, but don't expect a lot so you won't get disappointed too badly.

Moderate expectations is best -- Too high and you might get depressed when it doesn't happen, zero expectations doesn't give you motivation or self esteem for achievement.

If you had to pick from High or Low, I would say low because things would always be better than you expected.

I take the middle of the road.

I just try not to set my expectations too high; that just leads to disappointment.

But I don't believe a person should just settle for whatever comes along, either.

That's a loaded question!
Actually it's better to build a life based on love and trust than it is on expectations. You have to remember that expectations lead to disappointments, love and trust lead to happiness.
