I would go to Control Panel--Add/Remove programs and find Internet Explorer 7 on the list. Click uninstall and it should roll back to IE6. Stick with IE6 or better yet, install firefox as it's a much better browser and will not give you those problems or let spyware/viruses into your system as internet explorer does.

Countdwn2002 is right! IE7 does that kind of thing, which is why I rolled back to IE6 because I have to have IE on my computer; but, for most browsing I use Firefox.

Also make certain that you are the system administrator. Go to Start- Control Panel - User Accounts and see if you are the System Administrator. If not, there should be an account listed as the Administrator. Log off and log in as that user and give your other account System Administrator privileges.

You may be the only who uses it but are you an adminstrator on the computer?
