it is called the hash key also known as the fracture key in the medical world because it is the same symbol we use when we write that some one has a fractured bone.........

It matters what side of the pond your from,
In the UK its a Hash key
In the US its a Pound key
Most publications use it as a symbol for Numeral or number.

In the US its reffered to as a hash...if u go other place its more commonly called pound...and its just numeric sign either way....different countries...different names...

I always called it the 'pound' key.
Thats what I call it on my phone too.
I've never heard of this 'hash' thing.

it's called the "Hash" button ( the correct term of course) but I have known people refer to it as a "gate"
