I can't sleep at all! My panic disorder has been keeping me up late at nights to the point where even if I'm completely worn out, I can't get to sleep because of attacks! And I have my first volleyball practice in one day and that starts at 10 am! Any suggestions on how I could get to sleep without using sleeping pills (since they might interfere with my medication)?

Take a warm bath.

Drink a glass of warm milk or a cup of herb tea. Milk is rich in calcium and l-tryptophan, which help your body prepare for sleep.

Do a relaxation exercise. Breathe deeply, listen to soothing music, or let your mind wander.

Do some light reading. Choose a book you can easily pick up and put down.

Say good night to your worries and shut the bedroom door on them. Literally. Or write them down and close the book on them; whatever it takes.

I would speak with your doctor about this immediately if not sooner. If the panic disorder is caused from being bi polar, which was my case. My doctor prescribed abilify. Let me tell you that is the best drug when it comes to sleeping! I take it at night, and within 20 minutes I'm ready to hit the bed.
