Hello,

Yest. I shutdown the computer as usually and today morning, when I tried to start it, It does the memory check and hangs, gives the option to enter setup (DEL) and other options ( F8 , F9)
I wanted to restore the computer to the last known good config. but when I press DEL it shows entering setup and hangs there without going into the setup. any advice will be appreciated.

Regards

Do think that the ram might need changing?

Try clearing CMOS through the jumper or by removing CMOS battery for 30 seconds. Do this while PC is unplugged.

If you have more than 1 stick RAM, try powering ON w/ just one stick. If problem persists, try the other stick.

This has nothing to do w/ OS since you CAN NOT even open BIOS menu. A bare minimum set up without HDD, ODD and FDD could open BIOS menu.

you didnt mension whihc OS u are using. anyways get a startup disc, it will have almost all drivers of your pc(only important driver) load that disc, cd or floppy and now start your computer. press del button and reach the setting, and change the boot settings there. gv first preference to what you have loaded. if u load a cd, gv cd drive pref 1 n if floppy gv the pref. now the pc will restart automatically and u will get logged. now what you gotta do is enter(log in) to user pc in the safe mode and run chkdsk in command prompt and check for errors. scan for viruses also.

and once to these things are done, restart the pc, hit del and reach boot settings, change the boot pref to hard disc again and check if its working or not.

and still if u r having problems, do what u did first and then once yyour pc is loaded, get the cd of ure operating system and repair it. do uninstall and reinsatll again, u may lose your imnporta datas. just repair the files, recover the lost things and well your pc will start working now.

The problem is with your RAM module. Take them out clean the terminals gently reinsert and try booting. If this does not help you will have to change the ram module.

if its RAM problem, take out the RAM, rub it's golden thingy (the one that socketed into the RAM slot) with eraser. that'll do it.
