Hi everybody!

I am going on Holidays this weekend and my periods are due.
I'm just wondering if its ok to skip the sugar pill to miss my period on purpose?

I have never purposely miss the sugar pills, but because I am going on holidays, I want to enjoy it as much as possible.

Is there any chance I can get my periods even though I missed the white sugar pills?

Any answers will be appreciated!
Thankyou!!!

As far as I am aware you can. :)

I am not on the pill but my mum is and I know she only has a period once every 2 months because she gets really bad pains with it.

However, I would recommend you speaking to your doctor about it, or at least a pharmacist. As far as I am aware though it is fine as long as you don't make a habit out of it. :)

That's the joy of being on the pill!!

Enjoy your holiday - period free! :]

Even if you do skip the sugar pills, with your period starting this weekend I do not think you will be skipping your period as it is so close to your time of the month.

Talk to your doctor and see what he/she says.

I skipped the sugar pills and it took a while for my cycle to get regulated again. I ended up spotting during my regular pills. I would never do it again.

I would just bring some tampons and midol and have fun!

It depends on the type of pill you're on. Never do this on Ortho Tri Cyclen because I can tell you from experience that it is a really bad idea! You can not do this with all birth control pills. You better check with your gyn first otherwise you might find yourself bleeding a lot more than you bargained for!

Yes - you can go straight from one packet to the next without taking the inactive pills. Barring a health issue that would make it unwise for you (not very common), you can take as many as four months' worth (12 weeks) of active pills in a row, and just have four periods a year.

My doctor had me do this because I was getting migraines every time I had a period; this way, at least I didn't have as MANY migraines! There's also some indication that women who take birth control pills this way have a slightly lower risk of ovarian cancer, as the ovaries are not subject to the ripening of an egg and ovulation as often.

Enjoy your trip! :-)

YES
finish your proper pills
SKIPALL your sugar pills and go right on to your proper pills without a break.
Finish that cycle in the norma lway.
You will not have a period and be protected.

I would recommend checking with your doctor first to see what they say.

For some women it is ok to do depending on their overall health history and others have to do it to take care of medical problems.

it really depends what BC your on. When i was on Ortho-cyclen (or sprintec for the generic) i was allowed to but now i am on Ortho-tri-cyclen (or Trinessa for the generic) and im not allow to. i would just call your doctor or GYN and find out.
