Any single travelers that would like to do historic touring(Italy) instead of beaches? Okay maybe a day at the beach but I want some history touring(Italy). My friends want beaches and skiing.... Been there done that. I am single and want to travel but traveling alone is no fun and is more costly. What's out there for a single tourer?

If you stay at hostels the extra cost for traveling single will be minimal.
You meet up with other people traveling in almost each hostel, sometimes even for several days.
In the towns you can take guided tours to museums and sights or join a guided city walk.

There are also short holidays, without transport, which you can join while there.
I have not done that in Italy, but in Australia I could combine several of them into one longer trip, changing company several times during my trip.

If you travel like this you will want to keep a journal to remind yourself, because there will not be one single person with the same memories, but you can go exactly where you want.

Traveling alone you need to work a little harder to meet people, but you meet many more people that way, and not just people who have the same background you have.
People used to traveling alone often prefer to do that later on, even when given the choice to share a group again.

If you do not want to travel alone, you might be able to go to Italy at the same time people you know are there, join a holiday group for a week and go join your friends later, but often you will find it hard to fit in with the people who have been together for a while already.
