...with the Book of the Dead only partially in the fire, Ash, blood-caked and scarred, struggles across the floor to reach it, in an attempt to toss the book fully into the fire. One of the grotesque possessed demons, who was once his friend, grabs Ash's leg, and begins to chew viciously on his leg. Crying out in agony, Ash still fights to reach the book, only partially scarred by the fireplace flames; in a last ditch attempt, he pulls out the antique magnifying glass bauble, originally meant for his beloved, and begins to toss the charm at the book, holding onto the charm's chain, in an attempt to catch it on the book. Another of Ash's demonically possessed 'friends' reaches over to the fireplace, grabs a steel poker, and proceeds over to Ash, where it begins to relentlessly strike Ash across the back. Despite the agonizing punishment, Ash remains determined to reach the book; after several attempts, he finally hooks the charm onto the book, as the punishment being inflicted upon him, continues. Pulling the book within his reach, Ash grabs it, and just as the poker-armed demon raises it's weapon for another strike, he quickly tosses the book completely into the fire; as the fire envelopes the book, both demons virtually freeze in their tracks, and before Ash's very eyes, begin to grotesquely deteriorate. In the fireplace, the book seems to come to life, groaning in fiery agony. At Ash's chewed-upon calf, the flesh of the possessed demon falls from it's bones, and from it's back, a demonic hand burst forth, appearing to making an attempt to escape from the body, and flinging rancid blood and carrion gore in Ash's direction. The same thing happens to the poker-armed creature, in a frozen stance above Ash's body; dropping the poker, which barely misses Ash's head, as it buries itself into the worn wood of the cabin floor. All of a sudden, one of the legs of the standing demon gives way, like a gun shot, and in one last act of defiance, the rancid deteriorated body falls toward Ash; it's head smashes onto the floor mere inches from Ash's face, spraying Ash with blood and gore. "Oh, God", exclaims Ash, as he wretches in absolute disgust. Slowly standing up, as the blood and gore drips from his face, Ash picks up the magnifying glass, and grips it tightly in his hand, as he slowly turns, walks out the front door of the cabin, and steps out onto the porch; it is the dawn, and the early morning sun seems to signify that this horrific nightmare seems to be over. Ash steps down from the porch, and slowly walks down the dirt path streaming from the front of the cabin.....
.....an unseen demonic presence seems to awaken, from the back of the cabin; it swiftly traverses the leaf-laden woods behind the structure, bursts violently through the back door, rampantly flying through the rooms of the cabin, and finally bursting through the front door. At the edge of the path, Ash turns around...too late...sees the unseen demonic apparition...and screams!!!!
