If you would like the proper defination, then here it is. Predominately known for their cheap taste in clothes (fake designer i.e. Burberry etc.) and baseball hats. Chavs are generally considered to have no respect for society, and to be ignorant or unintelligent. The word "chav" originates from "Council House and Violent". Girls tend to wear cheap fake designer tracksuits with trainers and have their hair pulled back (with wax) in to a pony tail at the back (typically known as a "council house facelift" or "scrapeback". They congregate and loiter at bus stops, parks, supermarkets to name but a few

chav or townie talk in a drug-fuelled or cocky accent with there socks pulled up into there track suit bottoms, and to show thereo ftne white trainer,s puffed up coats, for girls, golden earrings and the fake burberry cap. And there favourite word which they say every five seconds is "mate"
How i hate that word and if another says it again to me when i go into a shop, some of them don't quite dress as chavs but sound liek them, i'm going to scream as i'm not there mate.

Well that short word dont tell me much. It could be similar to a YOB . But my idea is that it could be part of a french word. Chav-alier...an adventurous dandy.

Peek cap, collar up, big hoop earrings,(girls) white socks, track suit bottoms tucked in. Hoody up. Sways from side to side when walking, long arms.aggressive. drives fast and dangerously with cap on and loud music, gathers in group for safety and ability to cause trouble. Often taking hard drugs and drinking lager. generally insulting and has chip on shoulder.Easy to identify.
