Step one, go trade you FWD xB in on somehting RWD ,ile a mustang, 240SX mazda miata, dodge magnum. you know a car that puts the power where god intended, the rear wheels.
next you are going to have to get the back end to loose traction, so mash that gas and watch your back end try to pass up your front end.
if you cant ditch your lunch box on wheel (which is one cool funky little car, just not a drift machine in anyway) then you can always do E-brake slides but they are alot harder to control.
best of luck.

You can't really drift in a front-wheel-drive car.
The best you can do is briefly pull the emergency brake while turning (don't try this unless you have plenty of room around you). If all goes well, the rear wheels will lock momentarily, and the slip angle of the rear tires will exceed that of the front. You can apply some counter-steer (steering in the opposite direction of the turn), and you will exit the slide.
You'd be better off sticking to video games, though. A Scion xB is not even close to being sporty.

You have to make some mods first. I don't believe your car is a RWD and that's the first thing you need (manual shifter).
The other thing is that you should get tires that are NOT great at traction for drifting (after all that what drifting is - loosing traction). Another thing is to lower the gear ratio so that you can over power the rear wheel easily. Your max HWY speed will be something like 70 or 80 MPH and your car will be screaming (revving really high) on the HWY. Both of these are NOT what you want in a street car but you want to drift...
You have to get new rear brakes pads (seperate hand brakes for some cars) and get a giant hand lever so you can easily pull on then to make them slide.
Another thing that the pros do is the modify the steering mechanism so that they can turn into steeper angle.
====
One last thing is that you need (a) more insurance (b) alternate form of transportation just in case you get your license revoked (no kidding).
If you are really serious about this kind of stuff you should take a driving course. You will be a better driver for it and you will save money in the long run by avoiding damaged car and higher insurance rate after accidents.
Good Luck

Ok, first off, that little morn who thinks hes know how to drift at 14...yeah...your dumb, now go away. I have a few very important things you really need to think about.
1) Front wheel drive vehicles were made with the specific intention of giving the driver more control, as your drive wheels are under the majority of the vehicles weight, and your do not have opposing steering and drive wheels, thus making it easier to maintain or regain control if you lose traction.
2) The entire basis of thought behind drifting is that you are intentionally breaking traction on the rear wheels to put yourself in a position to surrender much of your control over the car, no matter what you think, when you begin a drift, you have surrendered a large percentage of control over the vehicle. For an experienced driver ending the drift is simply allowing yourself to bring the vehicle out of the drift and giving yourself control again.
3) Its kids like you who think your slick as **** off a shovel who get others killed with your stupid stunts while you run around thinking your some cool guy because you and try to use exaggerated weight shifting to break traction and act cool.
4) The movies are not real life kid, the drivers you see in the movies have been doing their job for years and they are damn good at it, you have a box with front wheel drive and think you can act cool....that never turns out well. Leave the stunt driving to the professional drivers, and stop endangering innocent lives around you on the road.
5) I have attended an very good Advanced Driving Tactics and maneuvers course, and the majority of our teaching was over physics of the vehicle, suspension capabilities, and how the tires react to different surfaces, only after we knew all the details and relevant information, did we practice and perfect the action in the vehicle. I know the vehicle physics behind drift, and I could do it if I were to be so inclined, but the fact is, its useless, its pointless, and its endangers lives. When you drift, as I said earlier, you sacrifice control, and when you sacrifice any portion of your control, you put yourself in a position to not be able to avoid an accident if necessary.
The point is, this driving technique should only be performed by professional drivers who have spent the classroom and course time to know what they are doing, not by a kid who has his first chance to try it because his parents finally let him out by himself with the car.
