Sexual Orientation, who people are NATURALLY attracted to, just isn't a choice.

Sexual behavior, who people decide to date and have sex with, is a choice.

One thing humans are is flexible. I think it's dangerous to make blanket statements meant to apply to everyone. I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of assigning the reason for sexual orientation. Why do we need to know? What good will it do one way or the other?

Does anyone realize that the assumptions made for any of the 'reasons' are bogus? Whether by nature or nurture, inspiration, trigger or fear of the same or opposite sex, I've never seen anyone change orientation as a result of attempting to identify WHY they are what they are.

To me, it's like the colors in the rainbow. Even if I can tell you all about refraction and how rainbows are formed, etc. I certainly can't change the order of the colors nor add or subtract any of them. Neither would I want to.

Some people are gay. Others are not. Some are in-between. Some are even asexual, with no drive at all. For reasons as varied as the number of sands on the beach, a few people change their orientation at some point in their lives. So what?

Actually, it's kind of a mix of both. People are truely born Gay, Lesbian, Bi/Transgender, but some people don't know it right away, or push it aside in denial. For instance, I'm transgender, since I was born and old enough to tell genders apart I knew that I was a boy, which I biologically was, just these past 7 or 8 months, I've actually realized that I am transgender and that throughout my childhood I was doing some stuff that would fit that of what a girl would do.
Some people might discover that they are actually gay/lesbian/bi/transgender in their 30's or 40's, others might know as soon as they can feel attraction towards people, and yet some others might just realize it as they're on the verge of death.
The life for everyone is to figure out who they really are, some people take the long way to figure it out, while others take the short way. Simple as that.

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is linked to biology and genetics. A link to genetics does not mean that homosexuality is determined by a single gene, but may be a combination of different genetic factors.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.

Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Researchers found extreme differences between women who had gay sons and women who did not.

A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

I think it's ridiculous to claim to know anything regarding human sexuality. We are dust specks in a universe so large it's hard to comprehend.

But we know. Yessir, no ego involved there. We've got a variety of mythological texts to hit each other with when we're scared, and we conveniently turn a blind eye to the "nature vs nuture" argument when applied to our own viewpoints.

"Why do you believe in the Bible? Because mommy and daddy raised me that way.

Why do they believe in the Bible? Because their mom and dad raised them that way.

Is it reality?

I totally disagree with you. So are you saying people want to be depressed for no reason and they are creating their sadness? I think not. I agree with your friend, I believe that people are born this way. I have a gay friend and believe me she would never inspire me to feel any way other than being straight. Now Bisexuals, I think are just being pigs, they want to try both sides of the fence, so no I do not agree with that.

Yes we are born this way. And no it's not a choice. I have known that I was gay as far back as I can remember. I even had friends that were boys at an early age, and had no interest in them whatsoever. I was always a tomboy and liked boy stuff and boy clothes. There is no chemical imbalance or persuasion from movies or anything like that, we are who we are just as you are who you are. And not everyone plays with stuff of the opposite sex if they are gay/lesbian. I am lesbian and my gf has known she was a lesbian since she can remember too, and she is girly as can be and always has been. People just need to deal with their insecurities and stop picking on the homosexuals.....deal with it every lesbian/gay guy does not want you!!!!

You do have a choice don't let people tell you that you have to suffer if you feel your suffering from being gay. You choose to be and now you can choose not to be if you ever so choose to do so. Always remember you do have a choice.

NO! I disagree with people who say they are "born" gay, lesbian, or trangendered. People can choose what their life may become and I along with some other people am starting to get annoyed with people who are "born" gay, lesbian, or transgendered. I believe it is just a cop-out excuse....

(by the way My mom blames my brother being gay because she dropped him as a baby) Okay lol you need and so do I.
