I've been looking around on the internet about what it takes to own one, but I want to know an estimate of the cost of the scorpion and all of the things that are needed to take care of one.

I would also like to know how difficult they are to take care of, how much time is needed to take care of one, etc.

And if there is any more information that I may find useful.

Thanks.

They are generally easy to take care of. I used to breed emperor scorpions. They cost about 20$ and all thay need is a 5 gallon aquarium (or something similar) a short shallow water dish, They dont really need a place to hide if you want to see them walking around or something but they will appreciate one. If you want them to always be hydrated, when you feed them let the crickets eat a small cup of cricket gut load. Always make sure they have water! Oh and there is a rule to scorpions the larger the claws the less they sting, the smaller the claws the more they sting. The emperor doesnt really sting though so you can take it out and hold it or something. Final thing do not remove their stinger, some people say it doesnt affect them but it does. It makes it not live as long, plus its neat to see them sting the heck out of a bug.

They are fairly placid as scorpions go (unless you're a cricket) but if they've got babies they get pretty grumpy. I'm biased though, I love them got a group of them in a 6foot enclosure. Even though they aren't deadly poisonous and I'm not allergic to them it still stings like a swarm of wasps when you get tagged by one. Not as bad as a centipede or assassin bug but unpleasant all the same. If anyone in your house has a real phobia of them you should consider them though, once you get your own place get what you like stuff anyone else!

Just to add one more thing to Kit's answer. Most people equate all scorpions with the desert but Emperor's are not a desert species, don't keep them on sand. They are forest floor dwellers and need a bit more humid environment.

you are crazy! why do you want such a pet? that would not be a pet, that would be an accident waiting to happen in your house. a pet is someone you share your time with with, someone you care for, not an exotic "thing" locked up out of it habitat.
