Italian girls are obsessed with dark skins.24/h under the sun to get an"indian"tan.
We always want the things we we don't have!
We prefer to be dark.It's cool for us.Here if you're fair it's normal, if you're dark, you're unique.

The same reason why black Americans are obsessed with fair-skinned people... They have been brainwashed to believe that light skin equals beauty and somehow makes you better than dark-skinned people.

The Chinese are the same way; they celebrate when the babies are boys, and especially if his skin is 'white' or close to it.
I don't know if this has only been since contact with Europeans, or if it predates that.
