They tend to eat spiders. So you most likely have spiders. Get rid of the spiders and you should get rid of the 1000 leggers.

I believe you are talking about SILVERFISH. They look like centipedes. They love to eat books and paper - do you have a lot of cardboard/books/paper in storage in your basement somewhere? They also come up in the drain. Scary looking but smashable. Clear out any extra paper you don't need - they like damp areas. Recommend a good residual insecticide perimeter spray. At the hardware store they have Silverfish paks too.

I would like to know the answer to that myself. They like cool and slightly damp places, I don't know if that would help you figure something out.

if they are really big an exotic pet store would probably buy one, we used to have really really big ones and thats what we would do
