That we can't take on the role of God. Victor Frankenstein tried to create life from death and the consequences were dreadful. He tried to defy the natural order. Sometimes scientific research and success has serious implications. (atomic bomb and Einstein).When the monster asks him to create a companion for him, though, Victor feels it's not morally right, even though that would save his family.

It may be ABLE to be done but SHOULD it be done. This to me is the essential point she is making. We are facing the same issue today with genetically modified foods, stem-cell research, assisted reproduction etc. All have ENOURMOUS potential to aid humanity but is there a dark side?
