Rain-stopping alone does not ensure the formation of a rainbow.Water drops should refract and reflect sun's rays and send it to your eye.Further the ray should subtend a particular angle at your eye to produce the image of a rainbow. These criterio should be satisfied. In other words, the sun,the water drops and yourself should be in proper places to produce the image of a rainbow.Further ,after rains, some clouds should still be left in the sky so that the water drops refract and reflect the sun's rays.

It's funny that you mention this. It seems like there were a lot more rainbows, and they were a lot brighter, when I was a kid. The funny thing is that I just saw a rainbow yesterday near Washington D.C. after it rained. It was about 7:00 and the sun was in the west. It rained for several minutes, got really humid outside, the rain stopped, the sun came out and there was a full rainbow in the east. Still not as bright as I remember them being, but it was the whole thing, not just a half-length rainbow. Maybe everything just seemed better when I was a kid though. :)

you can usually see rainbows after it rains, but only when the sun is at the other side of the sky so the sunlight can hit the raindrops

Left eye said the same thing
I seen a rainbow yesterday, but too many storms
Have come and gone leavin' a trace of not
Good-given ray, is it because my life is ten
Shades of gray, I pray all ten fade away
Seldom praise Him for the sunny days

You're blind? I see rainbows on a regular basis. You can't, huh? Hmmm. In your alternate reality light no longer refracts? Too weird for words. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid.
