Yes, because chances are even if your room is clean and neat, the one next to yours could be a pig sty, and bugs don't tend to respect property boundaries.

Sure. We dormed in NY where there are bugs everywhere, probably even in the Waldorf, probably even all those Trump places. The bugs and mice are everywhere and they can squeeze through even thin little slivers of spaces, then up the plumbing or electrical ducts, heating ducts, etc. Unless you live in a hermetically sealed apartment or room, you'll have bugs and mice, no matter how clean you keep your place. We had to bomb our place often just to keep the bugs within limits--and if anyone cooked anything sweet smelling (chocolate was like a magnet), they'd come out en masse.

Bugs are part of life. I'm sure you had bugs at your mom's house. If there is a very small crack in the wall, spiders, ants, and other bugs can get in. My dorm room was clean for the most part, but we still got the occasional spider, and moths if we opened the window.

Yes. Because YOU might not be a pig, but the guy in the next room over might be.

No, I haven't actually seen any. I went to my friend's dorm and it seemed alright. Although, I would much rather live with my parents while in school. Much cheaper that way and cleaner.
