opium production is up. girls are wearing burkas again...by choice. the taliban is on vacation in pakistan. the druglord/allies keep turning each other in to the usa hoping we'll think their enemies are al quaida and do they're killing for them. everytime the usa shoots they all claim we're killing civilians. osama's still not there.

The Afghanis are struggling, but there's been a great deal of progress, especially in the cities--a professor at my college spent a year in Afghanistan, and noted how the school children are attending classes in shifts, so as to best utilize the buildings available. The main problem is that rural drug lords have still got a great deal of power and weaponry. Why? Because opium earns them so much more money than would any legal crops, they continue raising it.

Since we aren't hearing about it much, they must be doing very well. No matter what, some will find something to whine about. They seem to think it is their job.

Well, they are about to throw us out because of our indiscriminate killing of civilians, and I believe it is NATO in large part now, not the US!
