Have no fear Don Patch is here. Don't know you but I'm proof even the biggest dumb asses and losers can make it big (or at least get to a place where they can choose to be as miserable as they want). If you're beautiful, you can get past the loser part. I can't help with the ferret...

What wrong, is it just old age? Can a vet make him or her better?
If your ferret passes on, he or she will always be with you in the heart.
