Yes, the moon causes a gravitational pulling, and because of that... pregnant women can feel the effect.

The moon affects liquid, and the womb's liquid is just as affected as a vast ocean.

Without the moon, there would be no tides, and weather would be stagnant.

The moon does affect behavior.
The influence is in the individual, not the moon.
If it was a cloudy and stormy night I'm sure that some critter used to howling at the full moon would stay inside,if it didn't then maybe the moon does have some direct influence, for howling anyway.

No. The moon does not influence people in any way. There is, however, plenty of anecdotal evidence of a connection and the words "lunatic" and "lunacy" support this. In the days before street lighting, there was sufficient light to see clearly on a night with a full moon so more people were out. With more light and more people there was more crime and the deranged would be out wandering as well which produces the supposed links. The moon itself, however, has no influence at all. Even its gravity is undetectable by humans.

Forgive me if I dance 'round the mulberry bush a bit: some people think the Moon affects their behavior--and their 'thinking' makes it so. For example, here in New York City, when the Moon was 'full,' the police used to put on special watch. And sure enough, some of society's wackos would pop up.

Sure it does. Just like that big rock down at the park. Just like that pesky planet Mars. It's all nonsense and supesrtition. A full moon on Friday the 13th! EEK! No different from any other day. The effects of huge bodies like the mass of Earth and the Moon are miniscule to the slight mass of humans.

And now-a-days... I merely sit down back and howl and luxuriate in an entire moon.

It affects those who believe it affects them, and doesn't affect those who do not believe it does. It's a bit like God in that respect. If you believe in Him, He's there for you. If you don't believe, he's not. If you're not sure about Him, maybe He's there and maybe He isn't. The imagination is a wonderful thing, but sometimes it gets in the way of reality.
