First of all, you have to nourish your hair from the inside and take care of it from the outside. The sun usually dries out your hair and wash your hair one every other day so the water doesn't strip it off its moisture. Take some hair vitamin pills as well.

Do a hair mask three times a week. Put mayonnaise on your hair for 30 minutes and rinse it. Choose a shampoo that matches your hair type with a good conditioner. Remember to massage the scalp when you're shampooing so the blood could flow to the scalp. Other than that, a healthy lifestyle and exercise would increase your chance of getting smooth, silky hair.

Oh and remember that some of it really depends on your genetics as well.

I'm not a hairstylist, but I know a few things that have worked for me. A stylist once told me to buy some mineral oil (it's cheap) and put it on my hair at night. Be sure to put a towel on your head or on your pillow. It really helped my hair. Also, I use a product called After Party, it's part of the Bed Head line. It smooths your hair after you have used a blow dryer to style it. Hope this helps.
