WOW, great question, I'd have to say that it is pretty even. Ichiro has a great average, but DICE-K is possibly helping a team to another World Series berth. He doesn't have too good of an ERA but he's racking up a whole lot of wins and Ks. Ichiro doesn't hit many HRs, but he is racking up hits, SBs, and Runs scored. I'd have to say it's pretty even. Each player is toward the top of it's league in atleast one stat category.

Ichiro is 1/8 against Dice K this year. The Red Sox play the Mariners next week. Then we'll see. So far, it's Dice K.

get_busy_livin. I suppouse you could say who is better respectively at their craft. True a hitter goes out and players all most everyday and get RBIs, but someone also has to hold down the fort and keep the other team from scoring too.
With that in mind, I say Ichiro. He's one of the best hitters in the game. His speed makes things happen, it divides the attention of the pitcher, it causes the catcher to have to hurry his throws whenever Ichiro tries to steal, thus creates for more chance of throwing errors = Ichiro at 3rd.
Not to mention he's a good leadoff slap hitter, he doesn't hit homeruns, but you won't find a better table-setter than this guy. Dice K has done well, but he's not even the top pitcher in the AL let alone one of the best at his craft in the majors.

Ichiro is better player but both are always faced 36 times in Japan.
Now they are face again in MLB in America with the highest paid and huge contracts.
Dice-K signed $52 millions for 5 years but his agent, Scott Boras signed $52 millions by Red Sox. Dice-K is $104 millions pitcher.
Ichiro had re-signed with Mariners as $100 millions for 10 years and more contract until 2032.
They are most balance players, its too early see who is the better player as Ichiro or Dice-K.

Ichiro.
He is the Japanese version of Derek Jeter.
In all of his six seasons in the Major Leagues Ichiro has had 200 hits.
And he has a career .333 batting average.
Those are very impressive stats.

It is hard to compare them but Ichiro is going to go down as one of the greatest hitters of all time so Dice-k has his work cut out to even come close.

I've seen Ichiro play in person - he's awesome, not to mention the best hitter in the game today. Matsuzaka is doing well in his first year in the majors and will continue to do better. If I had to pick one over the other, right now I'd go with Ichiro.
And, to address the guy who mentioned Matsui, I've got this to say:
MATSUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!
