When answering a question why do people put good luck after their answer? What's the point?

it is because in the world today we dont take the time to stop and wish everyone some good luck. that is why i do it anyway. everyone deserves to be wished some good luck from time to time so they know that there is someone out there who cares. good luck.

It means that the answer that they gave was most likely an educated guess and that they were wishing you good luck that someone that did know the answer did so to your satisfaction.

i think its just them trying to be nice...i do it..and especially when they actually need the good luck..
