is it disrespectful to read this book about her peronal life and thoughts

I haven't read the book. While I am curious and know that the author is a very good journalist and writer, I am having the same struggle as you. To date, I have not read the book because I feel it is a senseless intrusion on a lovely deceased woman who did her best to be useful in this world.
