My best friend thinks I broke a promise that I gave her but I don't. What I did was not what the promise was but she thinks it is what the promise was. In my eyes I think I didn't break the promise but in her eyes I did and the only eyes that really matters are hers. She will not talk to me. It has been two weeks and I have tried to talk to her at work and I was talking to her for like 5 minutes and all she gave me was a head nod, shrug of the shoulders and thumbs up or down. I haven't heard her voice in two weeks. And I asked her if she wants me to wait untill she comes to me and she gave me a head nod. I told her that I am not going to do that. She walks right by me and looks at me then puts her head down. I feel horrible but I think that it is just a big miunderstanding. What should I do? Is it really that bad for her to not be talking to me for 2 weeks?

Now i want to know the secret...Just give her time, dont bring this up again, you will not change her mind...Let her have her anger time, she'll come around...

What is more important your pride or your friend?

If it is your pride. Do nothing. You will lose a good friend.

If it is your friend. Apologize tell her how sorry you are to have upset her and that you still want to be friends. Tell her that you did not intentionally hurt her and that maybe some time in future you can talk about it when you are both not as cross.

Then it is up to her. She is hurting. Don't blame her for anything. It is just a difference of opinion.

It would be impossible to know since we do not know what the promise was. All promises can't be kept secret because it could affect many people. For example, "promise me that you won't tell anyone that I am going to kill myself". A promise is a truth that should not be told, but in some circumstances one must use judgment. We do not know how your friend feels because we do not know what that promise was.

since you didnt divulge exactly what went on its hard to say whether or not you broke the promise ...but if she is asking you to give her space them you should...wait for her to come to you, have that much respect for the friendship you share, if you push her you may just push her away forever

Don't know what you did but you broke her trust, now you have to wait and earn it back. If she will let you.
