I personally use tapwater with Waterconditioner as directed

I just hope that you have at least a 2.5 gallon tank with filter and heater for your betta, and a live plant, they love to rest on them

Hope that helps
Good luck

If you use bottled water, make sure it's SPRING water, not distilled water, which does not have the needed mineral content.

IMO, though, the question of bottled water should be moot. You should be keeping your betta in at least a 5 gallon tank, with filtration and a heater. Bettas need their water to be 78-82 degrees F, and there are no good heaters with thermostats for tanks smaller than 5 gallons. Anyway, if you keep your betta in a 5 gallon tank, it's easier to use tap water (dechlorinated, of course) for water changes.

I use water from a Culligan filtering machine in our local Wal-Mart. By the way, a Betta can survive just fine in a 1 gallon container with no heater and no filter and no air. There natural habitat is in the rice patties in Asia, and the have a special organ that helps them breathe in the stagnant water. They MUST have a surface area to breathe air or they will die. If you want to breed them, then go into to all of the 5 gallons and heaters and such. I have had many Betta's over the years that have live very happy lives in a 1 to 1.5 gallon "tank". They have all lived for 2 years and some 3. It just depends on how old they are when you buy them.

Just regular tap water treated with dechlorinator is fine. Make sure you use a water conditioner on the tapwater before usage, to remove chlorine, chloramine and trace metals which are harmful to your fish. Don't use distilled water, it lacks the needed minerals.

Tap water is safe, just add some water conditioner that you can get at your local petsmart.

You can use bottled water (not carbonated or colored), tap water with dechlorinator in it, and pretty much anything else as long as you use dechlorinator and if it's clear water and not colored/carbonated.

My Family and I used to have a betta fish. We used Distilled Water. You can get this type of water by the gallon bottles at Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons, and like ANY other store, I was just nameing a few! Thanks, and good luck!
